Simon Walpole Principal/Deloitte Actuarial and Insurance Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited
Simon joined Deloitte in September 1992 and was based in Europe until he came to Asia in 2002. Since 2004 he has been Deloitte Actuarial’s Taiwan Practice Leader. Simon has extensive experience in assisting Asian and European clients in embedded and appraisal valuations, including numerous merger and acquisition assignments, product development, business planning, and assessing business and strategic options.
Areas of Expertise / Project Experience Embedded and appraisal valuations for merger and acquisition and corporate reporting assignments. Simon has worked for both buyers and sellers in a variety of transactions for companies in Taiwan, Mainland China, Indonesia, Germany, and Holland. Asset-liability management of pension guarantees and life insurance portfolios, in a variety of markets including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and a number of European markets. Simon also has wide experience in product development and pricing, and business planning for insurance companies, in particular in Taiwan.

John Maroney CEO/Institute of Actuaries of Australia
As CEO of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, John oversees the corporate governance of the Institute and its business units in Education, Practice Development, Governance & Regulation and Public Affairs. In addition to managing the Institute Secretariat, he has overall responsibility for administration, finance, marketing and staff.
John has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial sector, much of this related to employee benefits and consulting. He graduated from Macquarie University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in actuarial studies and became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia in 1982. He also has extensive experience in life insurance and superannuation management, industry associations, regulation and as Government Actuary.
After his early training with AMP, he spent three years in Western Australia as Superannuation Manager and Actuary with responsibility for all corporate superannuation in WA. During the period 1988 to 1991, he was Australian Government Actuary and a member of the executive team of the Insurance and Superannuation Commission. John then returned to AMP and assumed responsibility for superannuation government relations and public affairs.
In 1996 he became CEO of the Life Investment & Superannuation Association and then helped establish the Investment & Financial Services Association.
John then shifted to consulting, initially with Trowbridge and Deloitte and then established the firm, Professional Financial Solutions, with two other actuaries. PFS grew strongly from 2001 to 2006 when John left.
John was a director of the Insurance Industry Superannuation Fund (Finsuper) from 1996 to 2006. | |

Lucian Lombardi Vice President & Director/Distribution and Strategic Research, LIMRA International
Lombardi directs LIMRA’s distribution and strategic research programs. The distribution research program tracks trends in the various delivery channels used to sell insurance and financial services. The strategic research program provides insight into emerging issues affecting the industry. He joined LIMRA in 1977 as a research associate and was appointed vice president and director in 2003.
Lombardi has written and spoken frequently on marketing issues and sales compensation design. He published over a hundred research reports and articles. Most recent publications he coauthored include New Games, New Rules, New Reality: The Economics of Growing Distribution and Memories of The Future: Four Scenarios of the Life Insurance Industry in the Year 2016.
Lombardi is a member of the American Marketing Association and Society of Actuaries. He received his master’s degree with distinction in mathematics from Trinity College (Hartford, CT). | |

Current Position Ms. Bray is an Executive Director, Head of Retirement Services at ING Life Korea, in addition to being the head of Retirement Services for ING in Asia-Pacific. She joined ING in June 2007.
Chantal is currently responsible for all aspects of the ING’s retirement services business, from sales to plan design, funding, consulting, strategy and planning, communications, marketing, operations and IT. She has over 11 years of extensive experience as a retirement consulting actuary, previously working for Mercer in New York, and Principal Financial Group in Iowa, USA. She is originally from Canada and has some retirement experience in Canada as well as Australia.

Ick Jin is currently a Director in Department of Financial Institution and Regulation at KIRI(Korea Insurance Research Institute), where he specializes on portfolio management and financial derivatives.
