Rod Commerford Minister Counsellor & Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner A/g, Austrade Korea and Monoglia
Rod commenced his role as Austrade’s Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner (Acting) for Korea and Mongolia in September 2018.
His role is focused on attracting Korean investors to Australia and growing Australia’s goods and services trade to Korea and Mongolia.
Previously Rod had worked as Trade Commissioner Korea in 2016 and in Mongolia in 2010. Since his commencement with Austrade in
January 2008, Rod had been Team Leader, Transport and Multilateral projects, assisting Australian Infrastructure companies’ grow in
international markets and has also worked across multiple sectors, including agribusiness, resources, food and beverage. Rod also
worked in Austrade’s inward investment division, helping attract productive foreign direct investment into Australia’s infrastructure,
energy and agricultural sectors.
Prior to joining Austrade Rod has over 12 year’s international trade experience, including roles at Alcoa and Holden, expanding their export
business units. Rod has considerable experience in trade with Asia and the Middle East.
Rod has a Bachelor of Business (Economics) from Victoria University in Melbourne.
