Director, Korea Capital Market Institute
Dr. Young S. Park has been appointed as the seventh President of Korea Capital Market Institute (KCMI) on June 12, 2018. He graduated from the Seoul National University with BA in Business Administration and holds a PhD in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining KCMI, Dr. Park served as a full-time faculty at Sogang Business School (SBS) since 1998 while acting as the Dean of SBS during 2013-2015.
He first started his academic career from the International University of Japan in 1990. He also held a faculty position in Rikkyo University in Japan and Dongguk University in Korea before joining SBS. In 2006, he worked as a visiting professor at California State University San Marcos.
Dr. Park has numerous academic publication both in international and domestic journals. Subjects of his articles range from issues in global capital markets to those of corporate governance. His seminal papers analyzing the Korean chaebols’ capital management strategies have wide citations.
In sync with his academic career, Dr. Park also served as a policy advisor and management consultant for important financial institutions in Korea, including Financial Services Commission of Korea, Korea Exchange, Korea Securities Depository, Korea Securities Finance Corporations to mention a few. He also held the position of Economic Advisory Committee Member for the President of the Korean government.
