Glenn McCartney Associate Professor/Hospitality and Gaming Management University of Macau
Dr. McCartney joined Macao’s gaming and hospitality industry in 1997 as Director of Sales and Marketing and Director of PR for Macao’s second largest casino property, and began to focus his research and study interests on tourism and gaming development topics during the casino liberalization period in early 2000. Working with the Macao Government during the early 2000s in which he studied and reported to the Macao Government on overseas gaming jurisdictions, Dr. McCartney was also asked to consult with the initial 2 casino projects to be built post-casino liberalization in Macao, the Waldo and Sands casino projects. For much of 2012 he headed as a consultant, the retail marketing team at The Venetian, Macau (a retail project with over 600 shops), which included the period for the opening of Sands Cotai Central. In 2014 he consulted on the Tourism Master Plan for the Macau Government Tourism Office.
With specialties on destination marketing, branding and development, Chinese outbound travel behavior, Asian casino marketing, and travel/consumer research in Asian markets, he has advised several casino concessionaires in Macao including MGM, The Venetian, Star World and Galaxy Resort. In Korea he has consulted with Kangwon Land casino. He has been invited in recent years to speak on the subject of tourism and casino development in several countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Korea and the UK. More recently he was invited to Japan to speak on casino legalization and integrated resort development. As a subject expert on Chinese outbound travel, casino tourism and Macao’s tourism industry he is often quoted and interviewed in several international media including the news channels BBC, ABC and CNBC. Glenn received his PhD in Tourism Management from the University of Surrey (UK) in 2006 on the study of outbound Chinese to Macao, and is the author of 2 textbooks with McGraw-Hill with a focus on Asian tourism - ‘Event Management: An Asian Perspective’ (2010) and ‘Introduction to Tourism Management: An Asian Perspective’ (2013). He has also published in several international leading tourism and hospitality journals on the casino and integrated resort developments. | |

Park, Young Sook CEO/The UN Future Forum
Youngsook Park has been a bold and brave pioneer personally and professionally in changing Korean perceptions of how a Korean woman should think and act in Korean society. Prof. Park became the first Korean woman to be an Information Officer at the British Embassy and served for 20 years, founded the Korea Foster Care Association against opposition, started the World Future Society in Korea, assisted many Koreans from ordinary backgrounds to study abroad, been a member of many community organizations, participated in many multi-culture activities. She has been the Chair of south Korean Node of The Millennium Project and the World Future Society in Korea since 2004. She represents 18 different global futures research organizations from the world including WFS, MP, TechcastGlobal, etc. She teaches futures studies at Yonsei Human Ecology College for the last 11 years, as well as Ewha Woman's University Design Graduate School for the last 3 years. | |
