Due to low growth and weak domestic demand, the domestic food market has become saturated,
and globalization has become a challenge for the food industry.
The global food market is expected to grow continuously due to changes in dietary habits, the
advancement of dietary habits as a result of growth in developing countries, and aging. In fact,
the global food market grew 20% from $ 48.17 trillion in 2011 to $ 57.88 trillion last year. It is
expected to grow by $ 629.1 billion by 2018.
At the heart of that growth is the Asia-Pacific region. The Asia-Pacific food market is worth
$ 21.96 trillion this year, accounting for 36.4% of the global food market, followed by Europe with
$ 19.396 billion (32.2%) and North America with $ 11.624 billion (19.3%).
Therefore, it is a challenge for food companies and countries to secure growth engines for overseas
markets. Moreover, due to the THAAD conflict, the market is facing the demand for diversification as
the risks to the Chinese market have been growing.
