Introduction
Cutting-edge information and communication technology (ICT) bang up to date
"digital humans" are becoming more integrated into our daily lives. These digital beings
not only reproduce human voices, but also various gestures, facial expressions,
and mouth movements that correspond to conversational content.
Digital humans incorporate technologies such as volumetric (360-degree 3D video),
computer graphics (CG), motion capture, and artificial intelligence (AI). In particular,
through ‘neural rendering,’ the fusion of CG and deep learning, and generative AI,
enable the creation of more sophisticated digital humans in real-time.
The biggest difference between existing avatars and digital humans is their ability
to provide a sense of presence and immersion through "interaction."
The key to increasing immersion is the ability of digital humans to
"converse with people like a real human" who resembles humans.
In addition, the scope of digital human activities has become more diverse,
including entertainment, education, and smart factories.
Domestic and international ICT companies are accelerating their technological
development and expanding their ecosystems to lead the digital human market.
According to global market research firm, Emergen Research,
the global digital human market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 46.4%,
reaching $528 billion(approximately KRW 686 trillion) by 2030.
However, there are still limitations in creating a pipeline that can mass-produce
digital humans easily and quickly. Furthermore, ethical discussions on increasing
the reliability of digital humans, such as "Responsible AI," are urgently needed.
To address these issues, the Financial News will host the 14th Future ICT Forum
on June 21 under the theme of 'Embrace the Digital Human(AI X Human).’
Individuals who are interested in discovering new business opportunities in the present
and future of digital human, as presented by domestic and international ICT companies,
may find them at the Future ICT Forum.
