Introduction

Since the beginning of the history of civilization based on the agricultural revolution 

10,000 years ago, mankind has gone through several quantum jumps and 

is enjoying the era of the 4th industrial revolution.  

 The weaving machine and steam engine, invented in England in the 1760s, 

represented the first industrial revolution as the first step in human change, 

and the second industrial revolution occurred in the 1800s, centered on 

technological innovations in steel and electricity. In the 20th century, 

the development of information and communication technology leads in the era of 

the Third Industrial Revolution based on the Internet, which connected the earth. 

 Later, Klaus Schwab, the founder of the World Economic Forum (WEF), 

first announced the advent of the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" era in 

an article published in Foreign Affairs in 2015. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is 

a change based on innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital, 

automation, and big data. 

 In particular, generative AI such as ChatGPT developed by OpenAI is rapidly penetrating 

into daily life, and AI has emerged as the core of the 4th industrial revolution. 

Just as the steam engine, electricity, and the Internet have brought revolutionary changes 

into human life, AI has also moved beyond theory and demonstration to the stage of 

practice and experience. These disruptive innovations in AI have reached the point of 

a "reset moment" that resets not only the industrial ecosystem but also the foundations 

of everyday life.  

 Global and domestic companies are accelerating the development of innovative technologies 

and the convergence of industries in preparation for the great transformation 

that will be triggered by AI. In addition, the spread of AI regulation movements centered on 

major countries such as high-risk AI is also a hot topic.    

The Financial News and the Ministry of Science and ICT will hold 'AI World 2023' 

on Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, to discuss 

the way forward for humanity in the competition for AI supremacy. This year's event, 

which is in its 4th year, will bring together scholars and experts representing the AI field at 

home and abroad under the theme of 'AI, Reset Moment'. It will be a place to look at 

the current status and future of AI, as well as the latest trends such as AI ethics and 

cross-industry convergence, and open new horizons.
