Introduction
The Busan Financial News, a “First-Class” economy newspaper, which
started its business as the nation’s first regional economy newspaper in December,
2011, will hold “The 9th Busan Global Financial Forum” as this year marks its
10th anniversary of its foundation. The 9th Busan Global Finance Forum will be co-held by the
Busan Financial News, the Financial News, Busan Metropolitan City, BNK Financial
Group, Pusan National University Graduate School of Finance, and Graduate
School of Maritime Finance at Korea Maritime and Ocean University.
Since the government announced the Northeast Asian financial hub strategy in
December 2003, Busan has been promoting financial policies. Aiming to become
a "global hub city," Busan is making every effort to hold the 2030 World Expo.
Now, digital finance is more important than anything else for the development of
the financial industry and a leap forward as a global financial hub.
As digital finance means financial products or services that apply digital technology,
it is used in various forms such as electronic money, electronic payment,
and Internet banking.
Busan has a geographical advantage as an international logistics center. Also,
it has main capital markets such as the Korea Exchange and Korea Securities
Depository. Recently, the Busan International Financial Center, including BMI,
Yozma Korea, and Citibank Korea started their business in Busan, which is expected to
make Busan an international financial center.
Accordingly, the Busan Financial News selected “Busan, Center of Finance, Opens
the Path toward Growth" as the main theme of the 9th Busan Global Financial Forum.
We hope this year's forum will promote digital finance in Busan,a special zone
for blockchain regulation.
