Introduction
The Financial News annually holds Seoul International Food Forum,
dedicated to the development of the Korean food industry and the globalization of K-food.
This year, Seoul International Food Forum marks its 10th anniversary
and the theme of the forum is “Food for future generations and ESG in the food industry.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started,
healthy and sustainable food has drawn much more attention than ever.
Plant-based foods including meat substitutes are good examples.
Experts predict that alternative foods created by applying cutting-edge technology
will quickly fill our tables instead of traditional foods, which is why we need to come up
with strategies to preoccupy a future industry that is expected to grow rapidly.
Moreover, it is also the responsibility of adults to take interest in what foods our children will eat.
Korean food companies are focusing on sustainability and eco-friendly innovation
in the process of production and consumption of products and services in line
with the global ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) trend.
This is because consumers are reflecting their personal beliefs
and values as important in their consumption.
In order to continue the global K-food craze and leap forward as a global company,
ESG management has become essential.
Accordingly, this year, we hold Seoul International Food Forum
where we look at challenges in future businesses, including alternative foods,
and seek ESG management strategies for global corporate growth.
This year's forum will be held at the Josun Palace in Gangnam, Seoul,
befitting the Gangnam era of the Financial News. For the safety of the event,
we will take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19
by taking disease prevention measures including thermal screening.
